Review: Ibis Ripley Mountain Bike

If you wake up in the morning with the urge to rip a trail, it’s time to throw your leg over a Ibis Ripley. From all day epic adventures to short rides during lunch and afterwork, the new Ripley V4 will take you anywhere you want to go a leave a huge smile on your face. Developed from years of research and experience, the new Ripley is expanding the notions of what can be done on a 120mm 29er.

If you are familiar with the previous Ibis Ripley, I challenge you to find major similarities between it and the new Ripley V4. They both have carbon frames and 29” wheels, but that is basically where the similarities end. The new Ripley has been redesigned from the ground up and now showcases a silhouette very similar to its big brother, the Ibis Ripmo. We all know the Ibis Ripley v3 was a great bike, so why change it? The answer is simple, to make an even better bike! The Ripley V4 is snappy, flickable, playful, fast, lightweight, and versatile. It only takes a few seconds on the trail until you are completely in love with this bike.

At the heart of the new Ripley is modern geometry, a stiff and lightweight full-carbon chassis, and 120mm of ultra-efficient DW-link travel. For those unaware, the DW-link is the creation of suspension wizard Dave Weagle. Since its inception, it has provided an unparalleled combination of climbing efficiency and downhill performance. Besides an amazing suspension platform, the Ripley frame also features a low stand-over height which allows for smaller riders on smaller frames to still run a decently long dropper.
